My name is Hannah Gonzalez and this year marks my tenth year as a Spanish teacher in Howard County, Maryland. I am a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County where I completed dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish and Political Science, a certificate in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching (ESOL). In the past I have traveled, studied and lived for extended periods throughout central and northern Mexico as well as worked within the Hispanic community. Outside of the classroom, I am an avid reader, an aspiring chef and a sometimes construction aficionado. I love to travel, although with two young kids at home, I don’t get to do it as much as I would like. I strongly believe that learning a second (or third!) language is an essential skill in our globalized world. Not only does it allow you to communicate with more individuals, but it also promotes dialogue amongst people from different cultures. I strive daily to convey that passion to my students, to engage and empower them to be the best global citizens that they can be.
